Some time ago I decided to start reading through the Science Fiction bookshelf choosing at least one author from each letter of the alphabet. The intention was to develop a broad spectrum view of the Science Fiction genre. The Aldis book mentioned below was my first book in that effort. This book is my second.
The Depths of Time was an interesting story dealing with time travel in a unique way. The basic idea was that wormholes could take you back in time a certain amout of time. Guards were established to prohibit movement forward in time. To travel long distances you would go into suspended animation and set your ship on cruise control to a nearby wormhole. The wormhole would take you back in time enough so that you would arrive at you destination just a little while after you left.
The conflict in the story revolved around a person breaking the rules of the wormholes and going forward in time. It became a bit of a mystery. The idea itself was interesting but I didn't like the story that much. |
