This is the latest release by Thousand Foot Krutch. I first heard of the group through some postings on the churchbass mailing list (a great resource for bass players). Then I heard Rawkfist on a compilation disc I picked up recently. I was intrigued enough to get the CD and I'm glad I did. TFK is a great, high-engery band. The music is well done. It's a bit rapcore, like POD and a bit nu-metal, like 12 Stones or Project 86.
One danger that a band like TFK faces is that they end up having everything sound the same. With so much of their sound coming from heavy guitar riffs and a unique volcal style it's easy to focus on just those things to the point were each song sounds like the other songs. Fortunately TFK manages to develop a wide range of sounds on the CD. Several of the songs put the feedback/overdrive/harmonic guitar leads way out front while others rely on some great bass playing to drive the song forward.
I'm hoping that there will be more TFK releases like this one. |
