who we are

Who We Are is Lifehouse's third CD and it is amazing. Lifehouse has always had a distinctive sound which threatened to make all of their stuff sound the same.  In fact, their second CD, Stanley Climbfall, seemed to suffer from this problem. It sounded much like their debut album but without a hit song (Hanging By A Moment) to carry it.  Fortunately, with Who We Are Lifehouse has added new life to their sound.  They still have the distinctive vocals and guitars but there is more range.  The rock songs are rockier and the ballads are smoother.

Lyrically Lifehouse continues with the same themes of broken relationships and lifes that has characterized their previous releases.  This reaches it's darkest point with The Joke, a post-mortem song from the perspective of a teen who has committed suicide.  However, there is more than a glimmer of hope in these songs.  There is a feeling that despite the pain and difficulties one can make it through.

Lifehouse doesn't shy away from facing what they see as the human condition.  This CD is a portrait of the lives of people.  It is Who We Are.
