In the Spring of 2008 I started studying Ancient Greek. I initially started with Koine Greek (also known as New Testament Greek). After just a few weeks I was hooked and have developed a passion for learning all aspects of this language. The articles in this section of my website focus on various aspects of this venture. My hope is that other autodidacts (αὐτοδίδακτος) will find the information here helpful as an aid in their own adventure.

Throughout the last two or three centuries there have been dozens of Greek textbooks teaching various dialects of Ancient Greek. This page contains a list of all of the known textbooks. The textbooks here are limited to those textbooks that are focused on the subject of teaching the Greek language and not so much on the books that are about the Greek language. When available, each book has links to places to purchase the book or view (legal) scanned in copies. If you are aware of a book that is not listed here please send me a note (use the contact link on the left) with the relevant information so that I can add the book. |

Chapter XXIXHere are the answers for Chapter XXIX from my answer key for "First Greek Book". Each chapter (after chapter XII) has three types of questions. The first are Greek to English translations of sentences and phrases. The second are English to Greek translations of sentences and phrases. The third is a Greek to English translation of a couple of paragraphs of text. The text is taken from a simplified version of Xenophon's Anabasis. Keep in mind that I am still learning so it is highly likely that there are errors in my answers. If you find something that you think is wrong please let me know and I'll investigate it. |

I am working my way through “First Greek Book” by J. W. White. This is a great text book for those teaching themselves Greek but it is missing an answer key. Answers to the first 28 chapters can be found on Rusty Mason’s site . I have assembled my version of the answers starting with chapter 29 here. Please keep in mind that I am a beginner and therefore you should expect there will be errors in these answers. I am open to all feedback and correction. |
