We rented this movie the other night hoping to see something funny. We were disappointed though. There were a few moments that made us laugh but most of the movie was just stupid. And it was dull. As a comedy it moved too slow.
The plot is fairly simple. Best friends live across the street from each other. One of them hits it big and becomes insanely rich. The other eats himself up with envy. On the moral side, the movie tries to present the message that envy (and jealousy) will ruin your life.
Our first exposure to Jack Black was School Of Rock. In that movie he was great. Ben Stiller we've seen in a few movies. He has always been hit-and-miss. In this movie both actors kinda fell flat.
If you're a big Black or Stiller fan you might enjoy this as a rental. Otherwise you're probably better off with a different selection from your local Blockbuster.
