Let me say right from the start that this was one of the best family movies I've seen in a while. It was engaging, entertaining, and hilarious for the whole family. Jack Black, as the voice of the Po, the weight challenged kung fu wanna be Panda, was perfect. Black got it right. For a family movie this is one not to miss this summer.
Po, the Panda, is infatuated with the Kung Fu of the 5 masters: Tigress, Viper, Monkey, Mantis, and Stork. Each of the masters has his or her own style. Po, unwittingly becomes the chosen one to become the Dragon Master in order to beat the ancient enemy Tai Lung. While the spirit is willing, the flesh is very very weak. Po begins an intense training routine to try to develop even the smallest bit of mastery of the martial arts. After many funny and laugh out loud situations Po finally realizes that he is a failure and can never be a master. Then he looks inside and discovers that his strength is an inner strength and he can be anything he wants to be. And of course, he ends up defeating the enemy. The kids loved the movie and I'm sure we'll be getting the DVD once it's out. Again, I recommend this for any family looking for a fun and wholesome outing. |
