Meet The Fockers was, predictably, dumb and crude. Way too much for my tastes. This movie is a follow-on to Meet The Parents. In Parents Ben Stiller did a good job mixing up just the right amount of silliness to make the movie funny. But Fockers is just over the top with crudeness and potty humor. Not my cup of tea.
Ben Stiller was the headliner for this movie but Dustin Hoffman really stole the show. His recorded telephone answering machine message was great. Anytime Hoffman was on the screen things were a lot funnier than when he wasn't there. But it wasn't enough to overcome the feeling that I was in a junior high locker room.
Just like with Envy, Stiller is batting zeros with his movies lately. Maybe he'll turn around and hit a homer soon. Hope so. He can be real funny. |
