Next
There really does seem to be a fascination with time paradox movies in Hollywood lately. Off the top of my head I can think of The Lake House, Premonition, and now Next as recent offerings that had time issues central to the plot. In Next the Chris Johnson, played by Nicholas Cage, has the unique ability to see up to 2 minutes into his future. In Las Vegas, where he lives, this comes in quite handy. Although Chris keeps a low profile he doesn't escape notice. Eventually the FBI tracks him down and uses him to diffuse a national crisis. I won't give anymore of it away.
The movie was ok. The plot wasn't as tight as I would have liked and it seemed a bit dated (a Russian plot to plant a nuclear bomb on US soil seems so 90's). But overall it was decent. The best part of the movie, for me, was the small scene at Havasupai Falls. Last fall I went on a hike in this area of the Grand Canyon. It was fun to see the same places that I had visited in September on the big screen.
It's probably worth a rental if you like any of the actors in the movie or have been to Havasupai Falls.
