Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow is a movie that isn't really for everyone.  Probably the best way to describe it is as a tribute to the scifi movies and comics of the 40s, 50s, and 60s.  The plot of the movie is very simple and predictable. 

 

The cast does a great job in capturing the film noir and early scifi vibe.  There are many "in jokes" that refer to classic stuff from that early era of speculative fiction.  My favorite from the movie is the ray gun that shoots glowing rings.  Classic stuff.

 

Old scifi buffs will likely get a kick out of this movie.  New generation scifi fans or people who just like adventure and special effects won't.
