There are a few actors who we know are "hit or miss". Sometimes we like their movies and other times we don't. Adam Sandler is one of those actors. It seems that he is more "miss" than "hit" for us but we thought that maybe the newest movie, Zohan, would be one of the rare exceptions. We were wrong. This was one of the worst movies we've seen in a long time. There were a few funny parts but those were minuscule compared to the overwhelming junior-high level humor.
This movie was just plain offensive on many many levels. First, the constant racial humor making fun of middle eastern peoples (all nationalities) was just not funny after a dozen or so jokes. I suppose the movie makers were trying to emphasize their light-hearted point of how to achieve peace in the middle east but it was just too much for me. Second, the off color humor was just too annoying for me. How many times do we have to see the live-at-home adult son walk in on his mother in various stages of, well, adult activities, and then all laugh at it? Likewise, how many times do we have to see Zohan "finishing" the hair styling for a lady by taking her into the backroom? So it just didn't work for me. Not at all. We sat through the whole thing cause we kept thinking it would get better at some point. But it didn't. This is one movie of the rare movies I would actually avoid seeing again. |
