My second goal for 2008 has to do with reading. I've been an avid reader since I could read. Ten years ago I was making goals to try to read at least 50 books in a year. It's unlikely that I ever met that goal but I got close a few times. Since then the pressures of life and the Internet have eroded my reading time significantly. If I let the trend continue it won't be long till I'm not reading anything at all. So, to remedy this situation, I am setting a goal to read a certain number of books this year.
It doesn't make sense to set a goal so high that it can't possibly reached. Likewise, it is silly to make a goal that is so easily achieved that there was almost no effort involved. Based on my estimate of the time I have to read books I'm going to set my goal to read 10 books this year. That seems pitifully low but, unfortunately, that's all I think I can do. So we'll see.
