Yes, it is only February of 2008 but I'm already making my prediction about who will win the election.  Please note that I'm not saying who I want to win.  To be honest, I don't know who I would want to win.  But regardless of that I can make the following prediction.

I believe that Barack Obama will win the election.  There are several reasons why I think this.  Basically, Hillary, McCain, Huckabee, and 24.  Those are my reasons.

Hillary is dead.  She may not know it yet but it's a fact.  We haven't even got through the Democratic primaries and she's already out of it.  Losing 6 (or was it 8) primaries in a row in states where she was expecting to make a lot more headway was a big loss.  That's probably why she fired her campaign manager.  But now she's too busy doing catchup.  

McCain is a dinosaur.  He's acts like one of the old guard in both his policies and his mannerisms.  For good or bad, the current crop of voters don't want more of the same ol' stuff.  McCain seems like a sure vote for getting more of the same as what we've had with Bush for 8 years and too many people don't want that anymore.

Huckabee is just not presidential material.  He looks like a VP and I don't think anyone can seriously get behind him due to his image.

Finally, the "24 effect".  If you have watched the television show 24 for the last 6 years  you know what I'm talking about.  For at least 3 seasons (I think) the president on the show was David Palmer.  He did everything right.  Made the tough decisions.  Acted justly and wisely.  Showed compassion.  Balanced restraint with passion.  Basically, the best president script writers could write.  And he was black.    So more than anything else a popular show like that made tens of millions of people comfortable with, or at least used to, a non-white president.

So, Obama will be the winner.
