Today is my last full day in Oregon on my trip up north. This morning I had the pleasure of meeting with a friend for breakfast. The time was great. Even though it has been well over a year since we last met it seems like it was just the other day. I think it's always that way with good friends. As I get older (I'm not old yet, just getting older) I start to realize just how important relationships with other people are. They really do seem to have a life-giving effect on people.
I've heard about studies done with little babies in which they withhold human companionship from the babies. It always seems to end tragically when there is no interaction with other people. Maybe this was just the way that God made people.
I know some people are loners or independant or introverts. I am one of those people. I think, though, that that is referring to a different type of socialization not a lack of socialization.
The bottom line: friends are good and I'm glad I have some. Now if I can just get them all to live in the same state that will be even better!
