It looks like my 4 or 5 year old 3.2 megapixel camera finally gave up the ghost. Too bad. It was a nice camera and took great pictures. The other day I tried to turn it on and got nothing. Even after spending some time messing with it I just couldn't get it to power on. So I think it's time to upgrade.
The dead camera is an Olympus. One of the best features of the camera is the quality of the pictures it takes. Most digital cameras (all?) add some sort of distortion on the image they capture. It's usually some sort of tinting. The alteration is not obvious unless you compare the photograph with the actual image. My photo editing software has a tool to correct these distortions. I'm not sure how it works. When I use the tool to fix pictures from my camera there is almost no change. When I use the tool to fix pictures from other cameras there is quite a bit of difference.
One downside with this camera is the slow recovery time. It takes a couple of seconds after I take a picture before I can take another one. I wish that time was faster. When I look for a new camera that is one feature I'll be looking for.
