Not President Bush Print
Written by Mike Noel

This evening was the last of the debates for the 2008 presidential election. At the beginning McCain seemed a bit nervous and tentative while Obama maintained his never changing suave demeanor.  McCain's slow start only lasted until the pair started sparring over many of the policy and philosophy differences.  The quote to take away from the entire debate was made by McCain after yet another one of Obama's repeated refrains about McCain being and extension of the current administration.  McCain quite forcefully stated: "Senator Obama, I'm not President Bush.  If you wanted to run against President Bush you should have run four years ago."  I imagine that line is going to make its way across the internet very quickly.  If the McCain campaign is smart they will capitalize on it.

Overall the debate turned out quite well for McCain.  The station I was watching held a small discussion with six "undecided" voters after the debate.  Despite the discussion leaders attempt to emphasize Obama's strengths and McCains weaknesses when the final question came down as to who they would vote for 1 of the 6 had decided for Obama and 3 of the 6 had decided for McCain.  The other two remained undecided.

I was quite surprised to see the disdain that many had for Palin.  The circles I run in socially don't reflect that at all.  I guess I don't know the right people.

The best part of the debate is that it indicates that the election is only three weeks away.  Only three more weeks of this "torture".
