It's a little early, for me, to be getting involved in the presidential race of 2008. Usually I like to wait till the summer before the election before I start paying attention. This year, however, it's hard to not pay attention. Everywhere you look there is the specter of Hillary Clinton running for president on the Democratic ticket. At the same time there is a lot of discontent with the way that Bush is running things right now. People are eager for a change.
Up until a few days ago I had never heard of Ron Paul. Some things I heard on a podcast made me a bit interested so I decide to look him up. I like a lot of the stuff he has to say. If he was elected things would certainly be different. To some degree the things he's suggesting seem a bit impractical, or at least pretty hard to do in four years. Strategically he would need to be able to pick several "small" things to show forward progress before he could get buy-in from the public on the more ambitious ideas.
Anyway, I have over a year to think about who I want to vote for. I will be keeping an eye on Ron Paul. There might be something there.
