I use iTunes to listen to organize my music collection on my computer and on my iPod. One feature that iTunes provides is a rating on each song. This is just a simple 1-5 scale that I can use to determine how much I like a song. I've started a new quest to try to provide a rating for all of my songs. Right now I'm at 3% complete. This is not a unique idea. Lots of people rate all of their songs.
What's the point? Well, I'm not sure. One benefit of rating all the songs is that I can use the rating when I create smart playlists. In fact, one of my favorite smart playlists is one that contains all songs rated 4 or 5 stars and the song hasn't been played in the last 30 days. Right now that's a manageable list. As I rate more songs that list might get too long. It might, eventually, contain more songs than I listen to in a 30 day period.
